Awana Simulcast – General Session 2

General Session 2

Jack Eggar challenged us to have quality over quantity. We need to be people of excellence, running a quality program, and not just being shallow, focused on numbers. Jack also shared stats and celebrated what God is doing through Awana both in the US and internationally.

He noted that Awana ancillary ministries include:

  • Prisons
  • Internally Displaced people
  • Orphanages
  • Christian Schools
  • Refugee Camps
  • Slums

Jack introduced Ryan Frank, founder of Kidz Matter and K! Magazine who is now on the executive board of Awana, spoke about Awana lifeline, the prison ministry of Awana now in over 30 churches. He also referenced Awana at Home and then began sharing all that Awana is doing internationally. God is truly blessing Awana!

Jack did reference the flame of Awana spreading out across the globe. It reminds me of the old logo. I wonder what ever happened to that. It is so symbolic showing God’s blessing upon Awana.

Larry Fowler then had an interview with Jess Curabo from the Philippines, Area Director of South East Asia Awana International.

We also saw a video with the director of Awana Lifeline, Lyndon Azcuna, the prison ministry of Awana, sharing his testimony and passion for the ministry of Awana Lifeline.

The phone connection with Charles, the National Director of Awana in Kenya did not go through and so we saw a video of what God is ding there.

Then Larry Fowler interviewed Art Rorheim about Awana, and how God has blessed it. Awana began with a burden to reach the neighborhood, and then God grew the ministry and still is today. Youth were serving God through Awana from the very beginning. Art believes that God has blessed Awana because they have majored in the Gospel and because focused on Scripture, memorizing it and putting it in the hearts and minds of all involved. It was good to hear about the beginning of Awana and Art’s passion still today. Art challenged us to memorize Isaiah 53 and then write to him and let him know you met the challenge.

Final comments tied the theme together, how we need to reach out to the next generation and pass the faith on to them.

Now we need to go out and do it. Like the Nike commercial… Just do it!

Good Afternoon – I would like to say thank you for your notes of the simulcast yesterday. We had many leaders that could not make it and we felt the message was very important for them to hear. You notes are more detailed than mine. I am going to share today before our first day of AWANA today. Again – Thank You!
