Serving Together to Reach Boys and Girls with the Gospel of Christ

Shipwreck is a favorite game played by many clubs. There are various ways to play, but here are the basics:

To play this game, all teams get in the center of the Awana Game circle. The leader will call out a COLOR and the players must all cross that color line. Last one across is OUT.

Have the clubbers go back to the center

Leader calls another COLOR and the kids must run across THAT line. Last one across is out.

Play continues until TIME is called. (Team with the most players IN is the winner).

Or keep playing until there is only one person left.

Some clubs add this: If Leader calls SHIPWRECK, All players must enter the game circle at a run and lay on the floor, not touching ANY lines. Players have 5 seconds to lay down. Those still up or any touching a line are OUT.

I posted on the Awana Forums that I began adding a story to the game so clubbers would need to pay closer attention. I just ad lib the story and it usually does not make much sense, but it is fun.

Hearing this idea, Chris Solaas wrote some stories to be used with the game. Those stories are:

Melissa Garris wrote a version for Cubbies - Shipwreck for Cubbies

James & Karen Williams wrote a "non-competitive" version - Shipwreck, Non-Competitive
