Insight from a Children's Pastor & Awana Commander

Missionary Spotlight – Rick Hatten

Like many of the Awana missionaries, I do not personally know Rick and Fairy. That is one of the main reasons for these blog posts on Mondays, so we can all get to know those who are serving God full-time as missionaries for Awana.

Some people may recognize his wife’s name, Fairy Hattan, she developed record keeping forms for Sparks which can be found on (in the Sparks area) and on their ministry website noted below.

As I always do, I asked Rick some questions and below are his responses. My prayer is that this will help you get to know him, his family and ministry a little bit better:

How long have you been an Awana Missionary?

26 years.

What area do you serve? Nebraska and Southeast Wyoming

# of churches under your care: 153

Fun Facts: Favorite food, favorite sport, something interesting people don’t know about you, etc…(whatever info you want to share):

I like pie.  I am not a sports enthusiast.  I like pistol shooting.  I hope to try ice climbing.

Why are you an Awana Missionary?

I am privileged to work with the most responsive people in the world to the gospel.

Share something God is doing in your ministry:

Kids are coming to know, love and serve Christ.

What advice would you give to a local Awana Commander or Leader?

Pray pray pray!  “God doesn’t answer prayer.  He answers desperate prayer. “  Leonard Ravenhill

How can we specifically pray for you over the next month?
