Why, why, why is Awana changing 3rd-6th grade again?! It seems that either the books, shirts, or awards have changed every year since you initially changed over from Chums, Pals, Guards, and Pioneers!

We began updating T&T in ministry year 2007-2008 by updating Books 1 and 2 in response to a groundswell of requests by leaders and parents.

Over the next 2 ministry years, Awana updated Books 3 and 4, with an eye toward improving their appeal to kids in 5th and 6th grade. During that process research, along with information from local churches and Awana missionaries, revealed revealed additional changes would be required.

Today, at a societal level, kids aged 10-12 face unprecedented demands, pressures and distractions leading to greater discouragement, apathy and disengagement. All over the place, kids in this age group lose interest even in positive activities and drop out. Kids in T&T are not immune. Data shows us this; and what we hear from the field confirms it.

The structural changes set for ministry year 2010-2011 are designed to help focus the attention of leaders on the unique needs and challenges of 5th and 6th graders, while fostering commitment, identity and community in the Awana club.

T&T Record Sheet - By Commander Bill
(to be revised for the new handbooks for the fall of 2010)

T&T Weekly Report Sheets
A double sided sheet (left and right) where a handbook leader can record on both sides, what sections are completed. After handbook time, the pages can be separated in half so the secretary can record the progress and the director can prepare any awards for the night. By updating the original weekly, the handbook leader will easily know where the child is if they forget, or lose, their handbook. - Developed by Commander Bill

Check-in Record Cards
This is a form to record attendance and other criteria that points are based on. It also provides a place to record visits to the clubber. -Developed by Chris Solaas

T&T Participation Certificate
This certificate is a Microsoft Publisher file (.pub) and could be modified to be a certificate for almost anything. Developed by Emily Metzger
