  1. I love both of your posts…this one and the giving gifts at Thanksgiving. We haven’t celebrated Christmas in 13 years now. Jesus’ birth is actually the Biblical Holy Day of Sukkoth. It can be figured from Mary’s visit to Elisabeth and Elisabeth’s husband’s temple duties…causing His conception to be Hanukkah and His birth to be the first eve of Sukkoth…but let me explain what I get excited about! The first Thanksgiving was by Puritan people who were trying to observe Sukkoth! Look up all the symbolism of the things used to build a Succah! So, what you’re saying, about gifting on Thanksgiving, is closer to His actual birth in all ways than Christmas could ever be! But why not go ahead and put it when it TRULY is? It usually falls around the first two weeks of October when the fall decor first goes up! This year we are putting a nativity up at Succoth and singing ‘Oh Holy Night’ because it IS the night! What a blessing to not be trapped into any part of anything that mixes the Holy things of God with the Pagan things of this world!
