Thanks Bill for sharing about Gajendra. I have met him several times and he is indeed a humble servant being used mightily by God.

    Bill:

I have had the joy of visiting Gajendra in Nepal and saw firsthand how Gajendra’s team is training hundreds of leaders (5-day trainings) to reach thousands of children. Awana in Nepal now has an “army” of leaders who are reaching kids for Christ…..helping to fulfill the Great Commission call to make disciples.

    Hi Bill,
I was part of a team that traveled to Nepal last September. We were able to spend 10 days with Gajendra and see his passion for reaching kids for Christ. We spent three days visiting an Awana club in one of the slums of Kathmandu. These children loved our visits and enjoyed hearing Gajendra tell them Bible stories. God has greatly blessed the ministry there. Awana is in 25% of the evangelical churches in Nepal and hopes to start 350 new clubs this year. Those new clubs will give another 10,000 children the opportunity to hear the gospel. Please pray for Gajendra and his team.

I too was part of the team that traveled to Nepal last September. Having spent 10 days with Gajendra & seeing the Awana Ministry in Nepal first-hand has opened my eyes & heart to children-at-risk. We had the opportunity to work with children in two different slums of Kathmandu. (one of which had just recently started an Awana club) The Leader-Based Strategy has made it possible for Awana to now minister in areas that weren’t possible in the traditional method and lives are being changed. In a country that is predominately Hindu & Buddist, ministry leaders are now realizing that ministering to children is an agent for change. The children’s lives are being impacted by God’s Word and God is using the children to reach families. Praise God for people such as Gajendra & Manju who are serving God humbly & faithfully!

  5. Thanks Robin, Colin, Kathi & Chris for commenting. God is doing great things in Nepal and internationally. It is good to hear from you the things you have seen in Nepal and Gajendra’s heart for ministry.

My prayer is that more people will see how God is using Awana to reach children around the world and the people He is using to do that.

    Thanks for commenting!

  6. Bill,

Thank you for posting this blog about Gajendra Tamang and the ministry of Awana in Nepal. My wife Debra and I have the privilege of working with Gajendra and his team in Nepal. He is truly a humble, committed, and hard-working servant whom God has used to raise up the ministry of Awana from 0 clubs in 1999 to over 1,000 today. We praise the Lord for servants like Gajendra and Manju and their team of passionate missionaries in Nepal. We also praise the lord for your ministry and for recognizing the work of our International missionaries.

    In Christ,
