What Black Friday Teaches Our Children

Black-Friday-LogoOur children learn from our actions much more than they learn from our words. They are watching our every move and copying them. Sometimes we think it is cute, other times it brings shock, especially if others see what our child is learning from us. Sometimes we blame others for the actions of our children that we don’t want to admit they’ve copied from our actions.

So with Black Friday here,I thought we’d take a look at what Black Friday teaches our children.

Stewardship

Learning to use their funds wisely, getting the most, the best deals, trying to be good stewards of what God has provided.

Missional Thinking

They see you diligently planning the day. Which path to take, which store to visit, what items to purchase. They see you planning for the future. A well thought out mission.

Contentment w/ God’s Provisions

Parents express the need to be thankful for family and for what God has provided for them during the year, and then well, …..

Whether you shop on “Black Friday” or not, the question to consider is, what am I teaching my children, or those in my ministry, by my actions? Not just on “Black Friday”, but everyday.
